zack

this is reese and zack at the mother's day party at school yesterday. reese and zack are very close friends and do everything together at school according to their teacher, miss karen. one of the things the mom's received yesterday was a photo album of reese at school this year. zack is right next to her in most of the pics. zack's mom even motivates him to go to school by reminding him he'll get to see reesey. not only is this child precious looking, he has an adorable personality too! last week he winked at me (5 or so times in a row). and yesterday, he raised his eyebrows at me over and over as though he was flirting. sooooo stinkin' cute! my girl knows how to pick 'em! she even told daddy that zack is her boyfriend. so cute!

his mom and i scheduled a play date for them next week. i can't wait to watch them interact. Ü

March 26, 2011 Connor's Birthday Party

We went to Connor's 2nd Birthday Party several Saturday's ago. It was a bubble party, which was right up Reese's alley. Not only was it the day of Connor's party, it was his actual birthday...AND, he started walking all in the same day! I think he had a really good day and the kids seemed to enjoy the party.

Easter

Does anyone besides me remember the commercial that says "Thanks Easter Bunny! Bawk bawk!"? I just love that commercial...even though I can't remember what product it's for. Oops!

Kyle's parents (J & M aka Munners and G-Daddy) came to see us again this year. Unfortunately, it was a stormy, wet and rainy weekend...so much so that J & M had to stop and overnight in McAlester Friday night due to tornado warnings. Reese was super excited about their arrival and asked many, many times if they were here yet Friday afternoon and night. They arrived Saturday morning while Kyle was still working on a project nearby. Reese reacted like she usually does when she first sees J & M...like a crazy baby. Lots of excitement. I love that she LOVES them so much!

J, M and I cracked up at her facial expressions as she played catch with Munners. She had some very serious and determined expressions (why didn't i have the camera in hand so i could have captured them??). They were so funny.

Reese cuddled with G-Daddy on the couch while watching Lady and the Tramp for almost half an hour. It's really rare for her to sit still at home that long, unless she's tired or not feeling well. I love this pic...

Remember the weather I mentioned? Well, it rained almost all day Saturday and ended up hailing that night. It was only about marble or grape size, thankfully. Sunday morning, afternoon and evening...more rain. Because it was raining and we were running late, I didn't get a pic of Reese in her dress before church. Kyle and I were scheduled to volunteer, so J & M took Reese home after the 9:00 service. I'm so sad that I didn't get a single pic of Reese in her dress this year, but I think G-Daddy did when they got home, before she changed clothes. I'll post one as soon as I get them.

Munners shared with us that Reese was telling her about something, but Munners wasn't understanding what Reese was saying. Reese told her "watch my mouth" and repeated what she had said. Munners got pretty tickled about that. I explained that I say that to Reese when teaching her how to pronounce a word properly.

So, I went a little overboard on the Easter basket this year. Another case of buying things in advance and forgetting what all I had already bought. Oh well, she'll use it all eventually, right? Ü

Although it wasn't planned, it just happened that the new ride-on car we ordered arrived Saturday (Easter Eve). So, Reese had an extra big Easter! Needless to say, she LOVES her little Jeep!
Here's the Easter dress pic...although her smile is a little scary looking! Ha ha!

We read the story of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection in one of her bible story books. It's called A Sad Day and A Happy Day. I'm not sure how much of it she understands, but she knows God loves her and that's the most important thing right now...right?

All in all, despite the rain, it was a good Easter weekend topped off by the sweetest goodbye from Reese. As J & M were pulling out of the driveway to head back to Texas, Reese said "I'll forget you for never". Ugh! SUCH SWEETNESS!!!

February 11, 2011 - "I'm FREE!"

so, my plan was to make chocolate chip pancakes with blueberries & whipped cream for reese's birthday breakfast... however the b-day girl wanted a bagel instead... since we always use the drive-thru at the bagel place, i let her wear her jammies... but of course, she decides she wants to go in...IN HER JAMMIES... more evidence of my true, self-sacrificing love for this precious girl, who is abundantly worth it! ha! ha!♥

daddy, audra, owen and connor met us at incredible pizza for an early lunch (yummy...sarcasm), lots of games and even a go cart ride (her 1st, i think). we had a great time playing games. there's really something for almost everyone there.

the gift she really wanted was a WOODY doll from Toy Story. upon opening BUZZ Christmas morning, she asked where woody was. so, naturally, when she opened woody...she asked where JESSIE was. i also found some really cool dinosaurs from the cartoon Dinosaur Train that she likes. they actually talk to each other...pretty neat. as you can see in the pics, there was no shortage of presents for the little one. (NOTE TO SELF: check to see how many gifts you already have set aside before going birthday shopping next year.)

i think my little reesey-roo had a good day. Ü i *CAN'T BELIEVE* our BABY is three years old!

sweet boys

March 7th

Reese and I went to Owen & Connor's house. I was in a bit of a crabby mood...until this. A baby's laughter is good medicine. Ü

Unfortunately, it was time for Connor's nap shortly after we arrived. I enjoyed him while I could though and my mood went from crabby to cheery!

Reese and Owen had a lot of fun. They pretended to go fishing, played with Owen's kitchen, ate lunch, granted me a little photo shoot and eventually vegged out!

sweet talk

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:4

Reese has blessed me with these two sweet exchanges this week...

Monday, while eating lunch together
R: Mommy, you're my friend.
M: Aww, thank you, baby. You're my friend too!
R: I like you, Mommy.
M: I like you too, my sweet girl!
(BIG squeeze)

This morning, while sharing a bagel
R: Know what?
M: What?
R: (reaches up) HUG! (wraps her arms around me)
M: Thank you, baby. You're so sweet! (melt "how did she know i needed that?")

nice to meet you

wow...nothing like a 6-month hiatus. annnnywaaaay... Ü reese is 3 years, 1 month and 9 days today and her imagination seems to be in FULL FORCE! she loves pretending to be cartoon characters - especially Diego from her favorite cartoon Go Diego Go, but also Buzz, Jessie or Woody from Toy Story. she even has kyle and i take on other roles. when she's Diego, i'm Alicia (Diego's cousin) and kyle is Papi (Diego's daddy). in the past week or so, when strangers ask her what her name is, her reply is "I'm Diego. Go Diego Go." when she's Diego she also insists that she's a boy, NOT a girl. often when i say something to her like "reese, come get dressed" or "baby, we need to clean up", her reply is "no, i'm Diego"...to which i very patiently reply "little person in the other room, whatever your name is, come get dressed". i wonder if i ever had such a big imagination.
